The Bulldogs stayed alive for a playoff spot with their second-biggest win, improving to 3-7/2-3. They led 28-0 at halftime. GMC makes the playoffs if Hancock Central loses Friday to Johnson County.
Jones County 41, Union Grove 7
The 7-3 Greyhounds stormed out to a 34-0 halftime lead en route to their fourth 30-point of the year, and best defensive night of the season. Junior Devin Edmonds had a night, a short but big night, with 292 yards on 15-of-22 passing with five touchdowns. Tyler Stewart caught 4 for 137 yards and 3 TDs, getting to within 7 yards of 1,000 for the season and upping his TD total to 18. Jaivon Solomon and Cohen Barfield also caught TD passes. Jones County officially clinched second in 2-5A, and will host Northside-Columbus (6-4/2-2 in Region 3, 7-3 winner Thursday over McIntosh) in the first round.
Macon County 49, Marion County 20
The Bulldogs clinched third in Region 6 with their sixth win of 25 points or more and fourth straight win. Macon County (8-2/5-2) visits Christian Heritage (4-5/1-1) of Region 7.
Manchester 42, Taylor County 0
Manchester locked down second and Taylor County fourth in Region 6. The Vikings are 6-4/4-3, their best mark since 2020. They’ll travel to Bowdon.
Southwest 37, Central 0
Southwest made third place in 2-AA officially with their second shutout of the season, and first over a Bibb County public school opponent since 40-0 over Central early in the 2017 season. The lead was 30-0 at halftime. Southwest will visit either Pierce County, Appling County, or Toombs County, all 4-1 in Region 3 and ranked in the GHFB Daily’s composite top 5 in AA.
