Peach County taps Hiller to take over softball

Joey Hiller is back to being a two-sport coach.

Peach County announced Monday night that Hiller would take over the Trojans’ softball program.

He replaces Brooke Martin, who was hired in early September as interim head coach. The Trojans finished 10-14 this season, going 2-2 in the Class AAA Super Regional.

This fall was only Hiller’s second without softball to coach in about two dozen years. He handled baseball at Tattnall from 1997-2022, and softball from 2001-2021, except for 2007.

Tattnall released him in March of 2022 from his baseball and athletics director duties, planning to retain him as head softball coach as well as a director of development. He resigned after the school year and was named head baseball coach and sports information director/athletics webmaster at Peach County in June of 2022.

He left Tattnall with a record of 625-148 in baseball with 11 state titles, and 474-180 with a state title in softball. The Stratford grad was inducted into the Macon Sports Hall of Fame in 2021.
