Trojan and Greyhound tapped by Macon Touchdown Club

Back of the week: Senior multi-position standout Antone of Tattnall racked up161 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries, to go with four tackles and an interception return for a touchdown in the 47-14 win over Mount de Sales. He added a 36-yard punt return.
Lineman;  Senior noseguard Jamarion Parker of had 17 tackles, two for loss, a sack and two QB hurries in the Greyhounds’ 35-28 victory over Dutchtown.
There were no special teams nominations again.

Kennesaw State’s Bohannon to visit Macon Touchdown Club

Ninth-year head coach Brian Bohannon of Kennesaw State is Monday night’s speaker at the Macon Touchdown Club.
The club meets at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, in the Rumford Center, at 304 Pierce Ave. It starts at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and the program to begin around 7. Admission for non-members is $30. Membership for the year is $250.
Georgia radio announcer Jeff Dantzler speaks next week, followed on Oct. 30 by Maconite Chris Hatcher of Samford.
Bohannon became KSU’s first head coach in March of 2013 to start the program at Kennesaw State, and he’s had the Owls winning ever since, bringing a 69-29 record to town as he starts his seventh season. KSU lost 27-20 to Tennessee Tech on homecoming two Saturdays ago to fall to 1-5, all but clinching the Owls worst season since starting football. And that was only 5-6 last year.
Their streak of five straight seasons in the FCS top 20 – excluding the COVID-19 season of 2020 – ended last year, their lone season in the ASUN after success in the Big South, including three conference championships and a 29-8 conference record.
KSU is competing this year as an FCS independent in football but remains in the Atlantic Sun in other sports. The school announced a year ago that it was moving up to the FCS level in football and joining Conference USA where its closet league competition will be Jacksonville State – a new member – at 100 miles and Middle Tennessee at 195 miles.
The 52-year-old Macon native and Griffin grad played at and graduated from Georgia, and has a Master’s from West Georgia. He has coached at Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Navy, West Georgia, and Gardner-Webb.
The Owls have a several Central Georgians on the roster: TE Preston Daniels, Washington County; RB Qua Ashley, Dublin; DL Ramontei Dardy, Dublin; OL Trey Butts, Mount de Sales; LS Ronnie Thomas, Houston County.
Butts starts at tackle, and Daniels is a co-starter at tight end/Y.
