Good day for some NFL Central Georgians
For some, there was no suspense. For others, there was.
Sweating it out and making their team’s 53-man roster: Mary Persons’ Malik Herring, Kansas City; and Stratford’s Quintez Cephus, Detroit.
Making the team, as expected: Perry’s Casey Hayward, Atlanta; Warner Robins’ Marquez Callaway, New Orleans; Westside’s Kareem Jackson, Denver; Wilkinson County’s Bud Dupree, Tennessee; Dodge County’s Leonard Floyd, LA Rams; Upson-Lee’s Travon Walker, Jacksonville; Dooly County’s Montravious Adams, Pittsburgh; Houston County’s Trey Hill, Cincinnati; Macon County’s Roquan Smith, Chicago; Northside’s Steven Nelson, Houston; Peach County’s Demarcus Robinson, Baltimore.
Free agents: Twiggs County’s Darqueze Dennard; Veterans’ Cortez Broughton; Houston County’s Jake Fromm.
Dennard was released two weeks ago by San Francisco in a surprise move. Broughton was let go by Kansas City in late July for a failed physical. Fromm became an unrestricted free agent in March, and had a tryout in Cleveland.
Fort Valley State’s Shermar Bridges battled injuries in the preseason and was waived by Baltimore. Jason Poe of Mercer was signed by San Francisco after the draft, and made it to the final cut, but was waived. Both are candidates for the practice squad.
