New Georgia College men’s hoops coach to be introduced

Not that he needs an introduction to Georgia College men’s basketball fans, but Ryan Aquino will make his latest debut in the Bobcats program on Thursday.

Aquino, named Tuesday as the successor to Mark Gainous, will speak at a press conference Thursday at 9:30 a.m., and it will be streamed live here.

Savannah beats Macon again, claims first-half division

Macon was in a good position after six innings with a 5-4 lead, but that was eliminated with Savannah’s five-run ninth en route to a 9-6 win at Luther Williams Field.

The Bananas clinched the West Division’s first half, and will host the first game of the West series starting on July 31.

Macon coughed up four earned runs, thanks in part to four errors. Holden Breeze had two of the Bacon’s four hits.

Henley withdraws from Travelers Championship

Russell Henley was among a few players withdrawing this week from the Travelers Championship that starts Thursday.

Henley pulled out on Monday, a few days after missing the cut in the U.S. Open.
