Covenant survived four errors, thanks to a good start and 5-1 lead after two innings. Gavin West had two hits for the Gryphons.
Jones County 7, Perry 3
A two-run third and one in the fourth put the Greyhounds in some control of the five-inning game. Keagan Baxter had two hits and Landon Califf two RBI for Jones County, while Brayden Long drove in two for Perry.
Lamar County 5, Washington County 2
Kale Bryan led the Trojans with a 3-for-3 game and two runs. Nathaniel Tidwell added two hits and three RBI in the five-inning game. Caden Dewitt and Wyatt Walters teamed for a two-hitter.
West Laurens 15, Rutland 0
The Raiders put it away with eight in the second. Matthew Thigpen drove in six runs on two hits, including a homer, and Eli Floyd had for RBI. Gunnar Effers had three hits and three runs, and Jace Thompson two hits and three RBI, plus two runs. Floyd struck out seven with no walks in an four-inning one-hitter.

Smart’s visit to Macon Touchdown Club coming up, public ticket sales Wednesday
Georgia head football coach Kirby Smart will be in town in less than two weeks.
Smart is the guest speaker at the Macon Touchdown Club’s annual year-end jamboree, and it’s on March 21 at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth on Pierce Ave.
The club will hand out a variety of local coaching and player honors, as well as a state coach of the year and state all-star list of seven players.
A small amount of tickets will be made available to public at $50 each, proceeds going to the club’s scholarship fund. They will be for sale on Wednesday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5 p.m.-7 p.m., with any remaining tickets available at the same time on Friday, at the Methodist Home’s Rumford Center. Members and sponsors should have made reservations by now, as well as additional tickets they’ll need. Once a final accounting is done, the club will announce how m
any tickets will be available to the public. No tickets will be sold the day of the event.
Multiple items will be available in raffle-ticket contests.
Braves add Central Georgia stops to trophy tour
Back in late January, the Braves’ World Series trophy tour started with six stops, including in late March 27 at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
The list grew, to more than 150 stops, adding more in Central Georgia: March 19, 12-4 p.m., Theatre Dublin; March 24, 3-6 p.m., Georgia College; March 25, 3-6 p.m., Little League Southeast Park; March 26,12-4 p.m., Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
Mercer-Georgia Tech game changed
Because of expected wet weather, Georgia Tech’s visit to Mercer has been moved from Wednesday to Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Mercer’s Southern Conference champion women’s basketball team will be recognized, and head coach Susie Gardner will throw out the first pitch.
The Bears are 11-1 while the No. 13/14/9 Yellow Jackets are 10-2, and off a series win over Georgia.
