Athens Academy 11, Putnam County 4
A 6-4 game after two stayed that way until Athens Academy got going late. Gerald Kilgore and Mark Winslette had two hits each, Kilgore driving in two runs in Putnam County’s first loss.
Dodge County 6, Hawkinsville 4
Tyler Shields and Riley Williams teamed for eight strikeouts and a walk in keeping Hawkinsville in check after a three-run first. Braylon Mincey had three hits and Jason Lann added two hits and two RBI for the Indians. Tanner Meeks, Brenden Varnadoe, and Chase Sinyard each had two hits for the Red Devils.
GMC 11, Covenant 2
GMC answer Covenant’s tying run in the top of the fourth with four in the bottom half. Cayden Avant had three hits for GMC, Black with three RBI.
Howard 15, Westside 0
A 10-run third ended it in three for the Huskies, who got 15 runs on six hits, all singles, and with only one Westside error, but thanks to 11 walks. Howard stole six bases, two by Gavin Williams. Landon Daniels had two hits and Andrew Garnett three RBI, while striking out seven in three innings.
Jasper County 5, Lake Oconee 4
Spalding 13, Rutland 3
Spalding put it away with seven runs in the final two innings, helped by five Rutland errors. R.T. Maddox drove in three runs for Rutland.
West Laurens 9, Vidalia 4
Vidalia marched out to a 4-0 lead after one, but the offensive door was shut after that, the Raiders going ahead with five in the fifth. Gunnar Jeffers survived seven walks in the win, Tucker Brown getting the save with three shutout innings. Eli Floyd and Jace Thompson each had two hits and two RBI, with two more RBI from William Kellam and Matthew Thigpen.
