Troy QB Gunnar Watson of Taylor County was 13 of 23 for 113 yards, a TD and two interceptions while getting sacked six times to lead the Trojans in a defensive battle. He finished the season 206 of 335 - 61.49 percent - for 2,818 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He announced before the bowl game that he was returning to Troy.

DB Trey Franklin of Warner Robins didnā€™t play in the game. He played in nine games this season, and was credited with a pass breakup.

Mount de Sales grad Aā€™Khori Jones had two tackles for Liberty. Dexter Ricks Jr. of Baldwin and Antwon Jackson did not play. Ahmad Walker of Warner Robins left the team upon entering the transfer portal in early December, leaving as the teamā€™s No. 3 tackler with 63 tackles in 12 games. Jones had 18 tackles in 11 games. Ricks had a tackle in three games, and Jackson didnā€™t play in any, apparently redshirting. QB John Alan Richter of Jones County didnā€™t play in the game for Toledo, and is apparently redshirting.

Western Kentucky 44, South Alabama 23

Dublin grad JaQues Evans, a first-team All-CUSA pick earlier this month, was fourth on the Hilltoppers with six tackles, adding a team-high 2.5 tackles for loss (for minus 12 yards), and a sack. Peach Countyā€™s Talique Allen added three tackles. Northside grad Cory Munson drilled field goals of 23, 31, and 31 yards, and missed a 34 yards, going perfect on five PATs and averaging 64.1 yards per kickoff.
