Baldwin’s tough Bullard making major impact on Georgia defense

Signings
Stratford standout Marshall Butler signed to keep on playing golf on the next level, and is heading to Wofford. Butler is a four-year letter-winner and part of two GHSA region championships, area runner-up medalist, and all-state in 2022. He teamed with Perry standout Andrew Reyes (who just signed with Rutgers) to win the 73-year-old Peach Blossom Invitation, and he was the youngest winner in the tournament. He also tied for 44th in the state amateur.
Perry golf standout Andrew Reyes is headed north, to Rutgers. In addition to teaming with Butler for that Peach Blossom title, he finished second in the GHSA Class 4A tournament and earned state golf coaches All-State.
ACE pitching ace Dixiana Sims made it official, to continue pitching in college at Georgia Southern after winning 87 games as a four-year starter for the Gryphons.
Veterans’ Maddie Drake signed with Georgia College for women’s soccer. Alli Eidon signed with ABAC for softball, and Jailah Lee with Georgia Southern for women’s track.
Houston County had several signings on Wednesday: Drew Burress to Georgia Tech for baseball, Ryker Chavis to UGA for baseball, Andrew Dunford Mercer for baseball, Elijah Smith to Western Carolina for baseball, and Lauren Desilets to Mercer for volleyball.
Crawford County’s Riley Youngblood will continue her softball career not far from home, at Fort Valley State.

GMC soccer heading to nationals
The GMC soccer team is headed to the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament.
The Bulldogs join Heartland CC and Community College of Baltimore County/Essex in one of the four three-team brackets.
Julian Rivera is the NJCAA Region 17 Player of the Year, and helped the Bulldogs beat Patrick & Henry lsat week 3-2 (4-2 PKs) in the Southeast District championship.
GMC is 11-3-2, winning six of its last eight matches, with two ties.
Action starts on Monday. The NJCAA site didn’t clarify pairings or times for the tournament, at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Ariz.
