Bleckley County took a 7-6 lead on a fumble return by Scooter Slappy for a touchdown midway through the first. T.J. Mays’ run made it 14-6 late in the first. The Royals went up 21-13 on Jahvon Butler’s run early in the third, and the Patriots countered with their own fumble recovery for a touchdown about halfway through the third, missing another PAT. Tyler Wilcox had a blocked kick in the third quarter and Arealius English an interception in the fourth quarter, and the Royals held on to improve to 2-0.

Dodge County 27, Dublin 7
The Indians beat the Irish for the second year in a row, pulling away in the second half after trailing 7-6 at halftime. Dodge County ran for 250 yards and passed for 91. Demron Gordon ran for 123 yards with two touchdowns, and Monterrius George added 82 yards receiving.
Duke Johnson scored midway through the first, and Dublin’s Quay Ashley countered midway through the second. The third quarter was scoreless until Johnson’s 2-yard run with 30 seconds left. Gordon put it away with a 95-yard run with 8:31 left and a 17-yarder with 5:42 left, the Indian getting only six yards on five other carries. Johnson was 6-of-11 for 91 yards for Dodge County, and Ja’Quarius Evans 3 for 9 for 68 yards for Dublin, outgained 250-132 on the ground.

GMC 50, Central Talbotton 8
It was a good night for Central. Temporarily. An 8-7 lead early in the second quarter evaporated, and GMC led 22-8 at halftime after two TD passes from Tyler Saunders. A returned of the second-half kickoff kept it going.

Houston County 27, Crisp County 24
A field goal of about 35 yards five minutes into the fourth quarter ended up being the difference for the Bears, who watched Crisp County score with three minutes left to get within three. Houston County overcame a 14-0 first-quarter deficit for a 17-17 halftime tie.
Howard 35, Southwest 0
Howard improved to 2-0 with its first shutout since 2014, 21-0 over Rutland. It was the Huskies’ biggest margin of victory since topping Central 54-19 on Sept. 6, 2019.

The GISA Class AAA defending state champs opened up a 24-0 halftime lead and expanded it to 38-6 halfway through the third quarter.
Jones County 34, North Gwinnett 28
Jones County rebounded quite well from the upset loss at home last week to Northeast, leading 14-0 before a lightning delay interrupted things. The scores came on an 88-yard run from Javious Bond and 96-yard catch from Zion Ragins. John Alan Richter had 225 yards passing at the half, and Ragins caught four passes for 176 yards. The 21-0 halftime lead started decreasing, and it was 28-13 after Ragins went 59 yards for a score. North Gwinnett pulled to within 28-20 late in the third and 31-28 with 7:44 left. Evan West drilled fourth-quarter field goals of 33 and 50 yards, and Javion Washington intercepted a Hail Mary to seal it.

Duke Watson’s 11-yard TD run broke a 14-14 tie late in the secnd quarter, and the Bulldogs got the ball right back and scored again on Logan Hickman’s pass to Watson for a 28-14 halftime lead. McDonough got within 28-22 early in the third, but the Bulldogs started pulling away.
Northeast 43, Central 0
Travion Solomon got Northeast on the board with a 15-yard run five minutes into the game, Jaylon Stephens adding a fumble return for a score less than two minutes later. And the Raiders were rolling, up to a 35-0 halftime lead. It was Northeast’s largest margin of victory since beating No. 8 Manchester 56-6 on Sept. 14, 2019, and first shutout since 42-0 over East Laurens on Nov. 3., 2017
Northside 28, Peach County 14
The Eagles came within 24 yards of doubling up the Trojans in yards, 346-185, on three more plays. Northside’s defense held Peach County to 15 yards rushing on 22 tries, helping survive 13 penalties for 122 yards.
Northside led the whole way, up 21-7 at halftime on touchdown passes from Damien Dee to Centavious Lowe and Micah Thurman, and Thurman’s 12-yard run, Peach County getting a TD pass from Christian Martin to Isaiah Mitchell from 19 yards. Martin hit Ladaria Leggett for a 13-yard score at the 9:30 mark of the third quarter, but that was it for Peach County, Northside getting some cushion with Cam Brown’s 25-yard pass to Duke McClinton with 4:41 left in the third. Brown ran for 93 yards and passed for 56, Dee connecting twice for 98 yards. Damarcus Allen and Isaiah Harvey led the Northside defense.

Putnam County 37, Morgan County 0
Cedrion Brundage scored late in the first quarter to get Putnam County going, and the War Eagles led 20-0 at halftime. Ze’marion Little and Gerald Kilgore kept the offense going, and the defense held on for the shutout.

Stratford 47, George Walton 7
Shaun Wilmore and Nate Slappey got Stratford going with scores only a few minutes apart, getting the Eagles going to a 28-0 halftime lead. Keondre Glover had two first-half scores, one on a pass from Lawson Cole.
Tattnall 28, Hawkinsville 0
The Trojans got rolling early, with a 14-0 lead after one on two touchdown passes by Clay Rowland to Griffin Hardy. They led 21-0 at halftime and added a third-quarter touchdown, and finished their first shutout since 48-o in mid-September of last year, and ninth straight season-opening win.

Warner Robins 50, Archer 34
Malcolm Brown scored three touchdowns, and quarterback Christon Lane ran for one and passed for two for the Demons, who took the lead for good four minutes into the second quarter on Lane’s TD pass to Deuce Petty, who picked off a pass shortly after that to set up Lane’s pass to Daveon Walker. The game started about 90 minutes late because of weather.
Westfield 51, Trinity Christian 21
The Crusaders took the lead less than three minutes into the game, on Jack Polhill’s 60-yard TD catch from Jim Coleman. But they gave up a safety eight minutes later, and a 32-yard run from Cameron Kalbach, and the Hornets took a 9-7 lead with 56 seconds left in the first. Porter Faulk went 28 yards less than two minutes later, and then Noah Blackmon caught Hunter Kirkley’s pass for a 63-yard score three minutes later, and it was 23-7. Westfield added three more scores for a 44-7 halftime lead.
The Hornets outgained the Crusaders 398-219, getting 287 yards rushing on 41 attempts. Faulk led the way with 142 yards and two scores on 11 carries, with Kalmbach adding 64 on seven. Six Hornets scored. Coleman had 99 yards on 7 rushes for TCS, to go with a 8-for-21 passing night for 98 yards.
