Games of the Week

Dodge County at Dublin

The Indians held Toombs County to 80 yards passing (9 of 20) and a dazzling minus-1 yard rushing on 30 tries. Dublin will have to deal with some explosion from a team that scored 25 points in the second quarter. Dublin leads the series 35-21-1, but Dodge County has won five of the last seven. The last time both teams were ranked was in 2007, a 21-7 Dublin win.

Jones County at North Gwinnett

The Greyhounds did enough to win last week, but didn’t. John Alan Richter went 17 of 26 for 243 yards and three touchdowns, and Javious Bond ran for 112 yards. North Gwinnett gave up 333 passing and 154 rushing yards to Hoover, Ala., and managed 293 yards total offense. North Gwinnett won 44-21 in Gray last year.

Northeast vs. Central, Henderson

The Raiders will have to come back down to earth after an epic upset, and the Chargers will try to do their part. Northeast racked up more than 400 yards at Jones County, and came up with the clutch defensive stop to preserve the win. Central has to improve on run defense after coughing up more than 300 yards in the 16-7 loss to Howard, which offered no test in the passing game. Northeast has a passing game. Central leads  the series 28-18, but Northeast won40-14 in the last meeting, in 2019.

Peach County at Northside

Peach County was outgained by more than 100 yards by a 7A team from Alabama, but the Trojans still cracked 400 yards in offense, 210 from QBs Christian Martin and E.J. Colson. Northside blew out Veterans behind three QBs combining for 193 yards, and seven runners getting 157 yards. The Eagles held Veterans to 152 yards offense. Northside leads the series 12-5.

Notables

Dooly County at Macon County

Dooly County has to contend with  a defense that had 4.5 sacks and three interceptions last week, and an offense that ran for 134 yards but passed for only 58 in a 26-0 win. Dooly County, though, gave up only 85 yards in total offense at Marion County. The Bobcats lead the series 17-14, winning 26-8 in 2019.

Warner Robins at Archer

Archer fell 29-14 to Westlake, giving up momentum late in the second quarter. Warner Robins stout defense will face a quarterback who was sacked seven times. The Demons gave up two gimme touchdowns in the 48-20 win over Valdosta, and are likely to have tighten up a few things.

Wilcox County at Bleckley County

The Royals gutted out a win over 4A West Laurens on the road behind 114 yards on 10-of-16 passing from new QB James Teston and despite struggles in the run game. The Royals are down 5-2 in the series, losing a wild 21-20 game last year in Rochelle.
