Central Georgia football games postponed (updated)

The 2021 football season continues to take a bigger hit than anticipated, with more Central Georgia games this week being postponed.
Baldwin and Washington County in Sandersville and ACE hosting Rutland are the latest games cancelled for the week because of COVID issues, at Washington County and ACE.
West Laurens and Veterans took a hit Wednesday afternoon, as per a Facebook post from Laurens County Schools. They’re planning on a Sept. 17 game.
Laurens County said West Laurens softball and volleyball for this week are rescheduled, with activities hoping to resume on Monday.
Thus, four football teams in Region 4-4A have had games this week postponed. Howard is still scheduled to play 3-AA Southwest.
Perry had to work to replace its next two games, taken down by COVID issues at the opponents, Harris County and Hampton. The Panthers will travel next week to Crisp County on Thursday.
Also, earlier, Hancock Central’s game with Washington-Wilkes has been postponed, although for issues not related to COVID.
Rutland-ACE has been rescheduled for Sept. 17. As expected, ACE-Tattnall next week has been cancelled, and the Trojans will host Pike County. Pike County’s game Friday at Taylor County has been postponed.
ACE has also been hit by a coaching change, with the departure Monday of Jason Stephens, reported first by The Sports Report on Tuesday.
