The Trojans open their new facility on Tuesday with a tri-match against Taylor County and Crisp County starting at 5 p.m.

The Bananas, fresh off the Coastal Plain League title, kept playing Bananaball, with a pair of two-run innings early to beat Macon in the seven-inning Breakfast Bowl opener.

Bill LeRoy (West Laurens) led Savannah with two hits and three RBI while playing third and batting leadoff. Beau Spears and Jackson McCart had two hits each for Macon, which scored three runs in the seventh.

The teams play Friday at 7 at Luther Williams.

Henley off to huge start at Wyndham

Russell Henley has apparently been hungry to get back on the course.

The Maconite last played in The Open Championship almost a month ago , waiting out the Olympics.

On came the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C.

Henley stormed out to his best round in two seasons, an 8-under 62, for a two-shot lead at the first full PGA tournament after a break for the Olympics.

Storms stalled play for more than two hours, and then action was suspended with 22 players still to finish the round.

It was Henley’s best round since a 61 in the 2019 John Deere Classic.

Putting and an alert on his phone were the topics of the day.

Henley had been one of the tour’s top putters for years, and he had a daily alert on his phone: “I am a great putter.”

Eventually, he was no longer a great putter, and he cut it off. Conversely, other parts of his game improved, and he’s played some career golf this season.

Not long ago, Henley returned the message to his phone.

He’s off to a good start as he tries to nail down his first win since 2017.

His first quality bel0w-par hole of the day was on 5, an eagle, followed by two birdies. Henley birdied three of his final four holes.

He tees off at 2:05 p.m. Friday, with Jhonattan Vegas and K.J. Choi, and they’ll start on No. 10.
