Hall just misses Olympic team

          Former Northside and Warner Robins track standout Cassondra Hall barely missed qualifying for the U.S women’s track team.

          Hall finished 16th Friday night in the women’s 200 meter semifinals, with a 23.32, just behind the 22.97 of Brittany Brown. Gabby Thomas had the top time of 21.94. Thomas set a world record with a 32.61 in Saturday’s final.

 

Henley one shot back entering final round

          For the second straight Sunday, Russell Henley is among the last golfers to tee off.

          Henley has three steady rounds of golf under his belt and is tied for third in The Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn.

          He’s one back of Kramer Hickok and Bubba Watson, and tied with Camerona Smith and Jason Day at 9 under 201.

          Henley followed Thursday’s 67 with a 66, and was on a long bogey free run from the first hole on Thursday to No. 16 on Saturday. He has a tournament-best 41 pars to go with 11 birdies.

          Henley at least shared the lead through three-plus rounds at last week’s U.S Open before falling to a tie for 13th. But it was still

          Henley tees off at 1:45 p.m. with Smith, followed by Watson and Hickok.
