Gavin West went 3 for 4 with four RBI and four runs to lead the Gryphons’ 16-hit attack. Zane Johnson drove in two runs on three hits, while Blake Smith, Chandler Mitchell, and Brayden Nesmith had two hits each, Johnson and Nesmith with two RBI along with Fisher Timms. Four pitchers teamed for 10 strikeouts, two walks, and six hits, JD Lewis getting the win.
Jasper County 10, Bleckley County 6
The first three in the lineup scored seven runs and seven Hurricanes had hits. Cole Yates, Justyn Fields, and Trent Maddox had two hits each, and Baylor Edge drove in four runs. Brody Little and Eli Mullis had two hits each for Bleckley County, which had clinched the region title and was going for a perfect region record.
Jones County 2, Veterans 0
The Greyhounds turned a fewer-hits night into a win, thanks to a pair of single-run innings late. Landon Califf needed only 65 pitches for the complete-game win, with two strikeouts and five hits, no walks.
Mary Persons 10, Lamar County 0; Mary Persons 12, Lamar County 6
Jaden Bankston struck out nine with no walks and three hits for the Bulldogs. Eric Snow, Aric Mock, Caden Swancey had two hits each, with Snow and Thomas Brooks driving in two runs each. The Bulldogs scored four in the first inning of the nightcap and put it away with five in the fourth. They got two-hit games from Snow, Brooks, Thomas Willingham and Thorn Anderson, Willingham and Gage Hopper with two RBI each. Donovan Sandford, Connor Vaughn had two hits each for Lamar County. Snow stroked two triples, for 18 this season, breaking the national single-season record.
Putnam County 18, Glenn Hills 3; Putnam County 15, Glenn Hills 0
The War Eagles went up 8-0 after two, and cruised, helped by six errors and 11 unearned runs. Logan Merritt went 3 for 4 with four runs. Jacob Grimes and Chase Lupton added two hits each, Lupton with four RBI. Dakota Jones and Drennan Vaughn combined for a no-hitter, Glenn Hills putting together four walks, a hit batter, and wild pitch to break the shutout. The War Eagles’ 11-run first lead to a two-inning nightcap. They got homers from Grimes, Austin Hadaway, and Gerald Kilgore, Putnam County needing only four hits, thanks to 11 walks.
West Laurens 4, Spalding 1
A three-run sixth lifted the Raiders, who got a pair of two-out runs in the inning. Matthew Mebane and Carson Estep had two hits each for West Laurens, Mebane with two runs.
