Henley gets clutch, makes cut
After a pedestrian even-par first round that put him in jeopardy of missing the cut, Russell Henley peeled off a 4-under day to keep on playing at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Henley’s 67 put him in a tie for 40th with Webb Simpson, Hideki Matsuyama, and Ryan Palmer, among others. They’re eight shots back of leader Xander Schauffele.
Henley countered two bogeys with six birdies, including four in a row from 13-16.
