Signing Day, Feb. 2021: Central Georgia signings

           Most signing ceremonies are done, and it was a calm National Signing Day II.

          The biggest question mark in the area involved Warner Robins quarterback Jaylen Addie.

          A post by the team states that Addie signed Wednesday afternoon with GMC, which has a nice Central Georgia haul coming.

Coaches/teams/schools: Send all signing information, including stats/resume info, to @centralgasports@gmail.com. This will be updated this evening with some of that information and pictures from some signings

          There has been speculation for months on Addie’s future as he recorded a monster senior year, earning statewide player fo the year honors while leading the Demons to the GHSA Class 5A title, and to the final for the third straight year, second with  him at quarterback.

          The dual threat QB’s recruitment has been hampered by a number of things out of his control:

          1. He didn’t have much of a summer of camp activity between his sophomore and junior years, and hadn’t started yet, so he didn’t get in front of many eyes;

          2. COVID-19 prevented him from any summer camp attendance between his junior and senior years, thus preventing colleges from getting a closer look at him;

          3. The NCAA allowing for another year of eligibility put college rosters in major flux, with coaches unsure of who was returning, graduating, or transferring, and forcing even more roster management.

          4. The Demons were more of a passing team in 2019 and more of a running team in 2020, so Addie threw fewer passes as a senior, averaging only 20 pass attempts a game as a junior and 15.4 as a senior. Those are lower-than-average attempts, and may have cooled some attention from some colleges.

Share on Facebook and/or retweet from Twitter, and tell others

          Addie has qualified academically for a four-year NCAA scholarship, which means he is eligible to leave a junior college after one season. NCAA rules are a non-qualifier must graduate from a junior college to become immediately eligible at an NCAA program.

          So far, Stratford, Crawford County, and Upson-Lee are the only schools to list non-football signings.
