GHSA wrestling: West Laurens duo and Perry Panther to go for state titles (roundup)

Consistency is important in all things, including sports, and West Laurens is consistent in wrestling.
Two Raiders will go for state championships on Friday night in Class 4A in the GHSA state traditional wrestling championships at the Macon Coliseum, and they’ll be joined by a Perry Panther.
Greyson Clark improved to 39-3 and will battle for the title at 170, against Luke Cochran of Jefferson. And Chase Horne will try to earn another title – and stay undefeated this season - at 285 against Devoris Calvin. Horne has two state titles at 220 on his resume.
Perry’s Shoshoni Williams had a bye and won by forfeit and 14-5 to reach the final in 195. The weight class almost had a Central Georgia final, but West Laurens’ Evan Guyton lost in a semifinal.
Through Classes A to 4A, fewer Central Georgia wrestlers are going for titles. Dodge County’s Landynn Powers lost Wednesday night in AA, and Central’s Adam Lamar is in action Thursday night in AAA.
Five area wrestlers took home state championships last year.
Clark took third last year at 152.
Clark won by fall in 2:43 in his semifinal while Horne racked up a pin in 1:09. Teammate Evan Guyton lost by a fall in his semifinal at 195.
Class 6A goes Thursday afternoon. The consolations and finals for 3A and girls start at 7 p.m. Thursday night.
