Tattnall’s Appling and ACE’s Sims highlight area softball all-staters
Thee Class A softball players of the year as chosen by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association don’t play too far from each other.
Dixiana Sims of ACE is the Class A Public pitcher of the year and Tattnall’s Gradie Appling is the Class A Private player of the year.

Dodge County faces Lithia Springs in flag football championship
The GHSA Division II flag football state championship is on the line Thursday when Dodge County takes on Lithia Springs at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta.
The Indians beat Locust Grove 19-0, Rockdale 24-0, Trinity Christian 14-6, and Riverwood 13-6 to reach the finals, while Lithia Springs topped Grovetown 6-0, Newnan 7-6, Heritage 2-0, and Greenbrier 6-2.
The game kicks off at 12:45 p.m. and will be on GPB.

Jones County outfielder Aiden Payne won’t be far from home, signing Wednesday with Georgia College.
