Eight new inductees set for the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame

Mercer men open the season Wednesday vs. FVSU

But it’s without a pair of Maconites, and with another one

After years with no players from Central Georgia on the roster, the Mercer men’s basketball team was set to start the 2021-22 season with two area connections.

But Javian Mosley and Quay Primas have apparently been dismissed about a month ago, their names being deleted from the roster on the program’s website and no announcement being made.

Mosley attended Westside until transferring to Florida High in Tallahassee, Fla., for his senior season. He signed with Mercer last November during the early signing period.

Primas graduated from Central, and also signed with the Bears in the early signing period. But he missed most of his senior season after suffering a torn ACL at the start of his senior year of high school.

Both are in the transfer portal, along with Leon Ayers III (headed to Duquesne), Mitch Prendergast, Jeffrey Gary, and Andrew Thomas from last year’s team.

That leaves the Bears with 14 players on the roster, with signees Shawn Walker Jr. and Jalen Johnson still on board. The Bears also have Jordan Jones, a freshman walk-on from FPD.
