GHSA announces first-round playoff time changes
In hopes of having as many qualified officials as possible do as many playoff games as possible, the GHSA has moved Class 6A and A playoff games to Saturday, leaving the others on Friday.
The GHSA split first-round games last year to deal with COVID-related issues. An availability of officials has been an increasing issue, and some playoff games have been on days other than Friday because of facility availability.
The move affects a number of Central Georgia teams who have locked up playoff spots: Northside and Houston County in 6A, and Macon County, GMC, ACE, FPD, Stratford, and Tattnall in Class A, with Dublin, Dooly County, Mount de Sales, and Crawford County on the bubble.
The first round is Nov. 12-13, with the finals Dec. 9-11 at Georgia State.
