Class 5A
Warner Robins 77, Camden County 34
It was actually tied at 7 and at 21, Camden County scoring two straight touchdowns. It was 42-27 at halftime, and then it was over, the top team in 5A putting a pounding on a respectable 7A program on the road. Christon Lane threw TD passes to Daveon Walker (two), Deuce Petty, and DK Sturn, while Malcolm Brown and JaFredrick Petty each ran for two scores, Lane rushed for one, Jay Carter returned a fumble for a score, and Cam Flowers scored on a run. Camden County had given up 95 points in six games, and this was the most scored against the Wildcats and legendary head coach Jeff Herron, a 316-game winner, in program history, unofficially. In Herron’s first stint at Camden County, his teams didn’t give up 77 points in a season three times. The Demons’ scoring record came in 1976, a 90-0 win over Jordan, and 77 was the highest total since then.
