Tough cut line ends Henley’s weekend early
A couple decent rounds weren’t decent enough for Russell Henley this weekend at The American Express tournament in LaQuinta, Cal.
The Maconite was 2 under for the first two round. Unfortunately for him, the cut line was 4 under, so Henley had an abbreviated weekend of work.
Henley, No. 28 in the FedEx Cup rankings entering the tournament, shot a 72 on Thursday, matching three birdies with three bogeys for par.
On Friday, he had one birdie and all pars on the front nine, and two birdies and two bogeys on the back nine, unable to get much traction either day.
The next tournament isn’t too far away, the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego.
Four Central Georgia teams advance in state duals
Perry, West Laurens, Lamar County, and East Laurens won two matches in the GHSA team dual wrestling state prelims over the weekend and advance to the state tournament.
COVID-19 led to changes in the format, including the location. Rather than at the Macon Coliseum, schools are host sites for each class. Perry and West Laurens will compete at Jefferson, and Lamar County is hosting the AA tournament.
The weekend’s results: Class 6A: Northside def. North Atlanta 48-24, Richmond Hill def. Northside 72-0
