The 2019 season wasn’t a great one for Henderson Stadium.
A few games were moved because new turf wasn’t ready for full varsity play, and the complex had the look of one not ready for play, what with scores of renovations taking place.
It’s very much now ready for what, well, the 2020 season has to offer, starting Thursday night with Northeast hosting Brunswick.
The Raiders are 1-0, having beaten Therrell 34-20. Brunswick is from Region 2-6A, and comes in 1-2, losing 31-10 to 3A Pierce County and 4A Benedictine 21-16 around a 21-6 win over Class A McIntosh County Academy.
This is the first meeting between the teams.
Northeast would love to break in the upgraded Henderson with the upset.
Fans will have home and visitor entrances, with a ticket office for each side and concession stand/rest rooms in the middle. Both teams have new locker rooms at the front of the facility, and everybody will see a new digital scoreboard on the other end, as well as new lights.
