Henley hits a little slump, but still high on the leaderboard
Russell Henley’s streak of under-par rounds continued, but his run of bogey-free golf ended.
Still, Henley will tee off on the final day of the Northern Trust in the hunt with a 201.
Harris English returned to major contention, into second place, five shots behind leader Dustin Johnson and tied with Scottie Scheffler.
Henley got off to an active start, with birdie-bogey-birdie, adding a birdie on 7. Bogeys on 11 and 15 were followed by a birdie on 18, to get in under par for the day.
That left him, at the time, tied for ninth, which is where he ended, with co-Georgian Kevin Kisner and Cam Davis, 10 back. Henley has shot 64, 67, and 70.
Henley, Davis, Si Woo Kim (tied for 15th) and Charley Hoffman (tied for ninth) are all playing to get inside the top 70 rankings to advance. Hoffman is currently just outside looking in at No. 72, behind No. 65 Davis, No. 66 Kim, and No. 67 Henley.
Henley is grouped with Davis, and they’ll tee off at 1:25 p.m.

Mercer Hall of Famer, area judge Wilcox dies
Tommy Day Wilcox, a 1965 Mercer grad and 1978 inductee into the school’s athletics hall of fame, died Thursday from complications after a battle with cancer.
He was a captain for the men’s basketball team, but there was no information on the athletics website’s hall of fame page regarding his career. He also served as president of the student government association. He remained a supporter of Mercer sports, and served as a trustee.
After years as an attorney, he was appointed as a superior court judge in the Macon Judicial Circuit in 1981. He retired in 2007, after creating the local drug court that was a statewide model, and a statewide award named after him for a person who has contributed greatly to the Accountability Courts of Georgia.
