Thursday's Daily News 'n Notes: NFL Draft's opening night done; Falcons go with D; Braves, and more

Wednesday and Thursday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media. Updates will be noted, so check back.
NFL Draft
As expected, none of Central Georgia’s four NFL draft prospects went on Night 1.
And it remains pretty iffy whether Jake Fromm, Quintez Cephus, Harrison Bryant, or Marquez Callaway will go Friday in rounds 2 or 3.
Four quarterbacks went in the first round, and six receivers.
ESPN.com lists Callaway as the No. 28 receiver left, four spots ahead of Cephus. Bryant is the site’s No. 4 tight end, and Fromm the top remaining quarterback, a notch ahead of predecessor Jacob Eason. NFL.com has it reversed at QB, both ahead of Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts.
NFL.com has Cephus 25th and Callaway 37th, and Bryant second.
The draft resumes at 7 p.m. Friday with the second and third rounds, on ABC, ESPN, and the NFL Network. Round four starts at noon on Saturday, on the same networks.
Georgia offensive tackle Andrew Thomas went fourth to the New York Giants and tacklemate Isaiah Wilson went 29th to Tennessee.
Lanier High’s Derrick Brown of Auburn went seventh to Carolina, two spots after Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa was picked by Miami. Clemson’s Isaiah Simmons went to Arizona eighth.
LSU, starting with first pick Joe Burrow by Cincinnati, had five first-round picks. The SEC had 15 players go in the first round. Clemson had three, including cornerback A.J. Terrell to Atlanta at 16.
