The hosts trailed by one after a quarter, but Wesleyan slowly started to take some control, leading 33-19 at the half and 41-25 after three.
Boys
Class 4A
Denmark, R7/1, 71, Upson-Lee, R2/1, 68
Denmark’s first trip to the quarters was a good one, winning at The Castle. Jalen Ausbrook’s shot rattled around but wouldn’t fall, and Denmark made two free throws with less than a second left. Derius Hayes had 16 for the Knights, who trailed by 14 in the third quarter and stormed back to take two leads late.
Class AAA
Central, R4/2, 79, Windsor Forest, R3/1, 76, OT
The Chargers went to Savannah and return home with a huge win to reach the semifinals. Central led 20-13 after one, and it was tied at 33 at halftime. The Chargers then trailed 55-48 after three and stormed back to tie it at 69 to force overtime. Quay Primas was big in the second half, pouring in 20 of his 28 points - including the two to tie it and force OT - to counter the 26 points – 12 on 3s – from Shamar Norman.
Class AA
Therrell, R6/1, 57, Washington County, R3/1, 55
Jarden Maze had 30 points, six rebounds, and four assists for the Golden Hawks. The margin topped out at six points in the first quarter and was back and fourth all the way. The Golden Hawks led 38-37 in the fourth quarter, but Therrell went on a 6-0 run to take the lead for a bit. It was tied at 46, 48, and 51, and the hosts retook the lead and held on. Kejuan Bloodsaw added 17 points and five rebounds
