Mercer men host Georgia State Monday night
Macon TD Club welcomes Kennesaw State’s Bohannon
Kennesaw State head coach Brian Bohannon is Monday night’s speaker at the Macon Touchdown Club.
The club meets at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, in the Rumford Center, at 304 Pierce Ave. It starts at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and the program to begin around 7. Cost is $30 for non-members. This is the final meeting of the regular season. Georgia’s Kirby Smart is again the jamboree speaker in February.
Mary Persons is this week’s featured high school.
Bohannon, who turns 50 on Dec. 17, is a Griffin Macon native who grew up in x and graduated from x. He was a wideout at Georgia in the early 90s, and coaching quickly beckoned.
He started at West Georgia, then spent a year at Gardner-Webb before five years at Georgia Southern (WRs and DBs) under Paul Johnson, who he joined at Navy and then Georgia Tech.
Bohannon became Kennesaw State’s first head coach in March of 2013, with 2015 the first season.
He has yet to have a losing record, going 6-5 overall and 2-4 in the Big South in that first season. The Owls have turned into an FCS power, reaching two quarterfinals and the second round in 2017-18-19. Bohannon is 48-15 overall and 20-7 in conference play.
Bohannon is a three-time finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award, and has been the Big South’s coach of the year twice.
