Sunday's Central Georgia - and of interest to Central Georgia - news and notes, compiled from staff reports, email reports, the web, and social media.

Westfield’s Amos getting attention after scholarship

On his next visit home, it’s a safe bet many of Giles Amos’s friends will have long adopted his new nickname.

          Well, they will now.

“Trailer Park Jesus” got into Saturday’s 42-3 win over Duke, not surprisingly.

Yes, Trailer Park Jesus. The senior was rewarded with a scholarship last week. A nice upgrade for somebody who was offered a scholarship by Valdosta State a short while before he had a scholarship offer withdrawn by Valdosta State.

Braves Report

Sometimes, all you need is Freddie.

A day after leaving the game early with a foot bruise, Freddie Freeman drove in all of Atlanta’s runs on three hits, two homers, for a 5-3 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Freeman also accounted for half of Atlanta’s lean six-hit attack.

Julio Teheran went six innings, with five strikeouts, four walks, three hits and two runs, improving to 9-8. Mark Melancon got his ninth save.
