Clemson 52, Georgia Tech 14
Travis Etienne ran for a career high 205 yards and top-ranked Clemson gained 411 on the ground – most in an opener since 1957 – en route to a 52-14 win over Georgia Tech.
Etienne picked up 90 on a first-quarter TD run, and needed only 11 more carries to crack 200 yards. Trevor Lawrence ran for ascore early, and finished 13 of 23 for 168 yards and a score passing, but was picked off twice. That’s half of his total from last year.
The Yellow Jackets suffered four turnovers: on a muffed punt after holding Clemson to three-and-out on the opening possession, two interceptions of Northside grad Tobias Oliver, and a fumble by Jamious Griffin.
Oliver struggled throwing completing 3 of 9 for 65 yards, while rushing 20 times for 56 yards.
James Graham threw for a 28-yard TD to Ahmarean Brown, and Jordan Mason rushed for 72 yards and a score.
