From Macon, theyā€™re teammates in Williamsport

The odds are slim, but here you go, a pair of former Macon rivals on the same Class A baseball team in Williamsport, home to the Little League World Series.

Tattnallā€™s Kendall Simmons is in his second year of pro ball while Mount de Salesā€™ Adam Leverett is in his second month of pro ball, with the Williamsport Crosscutters in the short-season New York-Penn League for the Phillies.

Simmons had three hits on Friday night, including an RBI double, and has gotten a hit in four of his last four games (entering Saturday). He has eight homers and 21 RBI in 33 games.

Last year, Simmons his .232 with three homers and 11 RBI in 32 Rookie League games.

Leverett, a Gordon State product, is off to a solid start.

Heā€™s 1-2 with a 4.71 ERA in his 10 pro outings, having hit a little slump with his last outing, giving up six runs and six hits in 2.2 innings.

Still, he has 18 strikeouts and four walks in 21 innings, that last effort blasting his ERA from 2.45 to 4.71.

Hereā€™s an interview.

Former FPD and Mercer lefty Austin Cox keeps on rolling, despite a brief drop down a level after a short visit to the inactive list.

Heā€™s with Wilmington of the Class A Advanced Carolina League for Kansas City, after starting the season with Lexington of the South Atlantic League.

The fifth-round draft pick of last summer is 7-6 with 21 starts, an average of 5.1 innings a start and three of at least seven innings. The ERA is 2.84, and he has 114 strikeouts and 34 walks, with batters hitting all of .230 against him. ā€¦

Kyle Lewis is, to put it mildly, healthy.

Heā€™s batting .331 in the second half with six homers, 17 RBI, 11 doubles. And, well, 43 strikeouts.
