Rookard has signed with the Gary (Ind.) Southshore Railcats of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

The AAIPB, founded in 2005, has teams in the Midwest, Southwest, and Canada, while league offices are in Durham, N.C.

Rookard led the Coastal with a .382 average and 39 hits, was second in runs, fourth in on-base percentage, and seventh in total bases.

MGSU loses pitching coach

After three successful seasons, Middle Georgia State pitching coach John Jeanes is moving up, but not too far away.

Jeanes has taken the same position at USC Aiken, a member of the Division II Peach Belt Conference and rival of Georgia College.
