ACE girls soccer headed to the ‘ship; game 3s await in baseball

ACE didn’t play a full varsity GHSA Class A girls soccer schedule a year ago. The Gryphons will play in this year’s final match.
Thanks to a 4-1 win at Lake Oconee Academy, ACE advanced to the first GHSA championship in the school’s history and will take on Atlanta Classical Academy – which opened in 2014 – in the Class A Public championship on May 16.
GMC’s boys joined the championship field, beating Atkinson County on PKs. The Bulldogs will host Lake Oconee Academy – which eliminated ACE’s boys Wednesday – on May 16.
          And Upson-Lee’s boys remained undefeated.
All four Central Georgia baseball teams still alive are still alive, and will play Game 3s on Thursday.
A number of stunning things happened for Tattnall on Wednesday. First, the Trojans lost, for only the second time this season. Second, they lost at home, which doesn’t happen. Third, they were shut out, which doesn’t happen. Fourth, they must play an elimination game, which rarely happens.
West Laurens blew a five-run lead in the sixth, and then scored four to win in the eighth. Bleckley County won by 11, lost by six. And Houston County split on the road.
More is available in the Scoreboard, and the Schedule has been updated.
