Bleckley County girls win state Class AA Director's Cup, Royals fifth overall to top Central Georgia programs (full area list)

Eight Central Georgia high schools finished in the top 20 in all three categories of the Georgia Athletic Directors Association’s Director’s Cup for 2018-19.

The three categories are overall, in girls, and in boys.

Points system, as per the website: “Twenty-five GHSA sports will be counted in the standings each school year. Each school’s eight highest scoring sports for each gender shall be counted in the Regions Bank Directors Cup Standings. Co-ed sports have been categorized based on majority number of participants.”

Bleckley County is the lone first-place finisher from Central Georgia, the Royals’ girls winning the Class AA trophy, edging Bremen by a point.

It was joined by Houston County, Veterans, West Laurens, Mary Persons, Perry, Dodge County, and FPD as programs that ranked in the top 20 in all three areas.

Bleckley County finished fifth overall in Class AA, a pretty regular accomplishment. The Royals were 11th in boys.

Houston County’s boys and Veterans’ girls had top-10 finishes, the Bears’ boys ninth and Warhawks’ girls eighth.

Perry was quite consistent, finishing 20th in all three.
