Honor Roll
Tattnall grad Allie Gordon was named the National Christian College Athletic Association Mid-East Co-Player of the Year on Friday afternoon.
She accumulated 71 points to tie Summer Collins of Kentucky Christian to earn Co Mid-East Player of the Year honors. The freshman played in every game this season, leading the Blazers in batting (.378), homers (5), RBI (25), slugging (.551), and on-base percentage (.433). ...
Middle Georgia State's Zach Cornell is the 2018-19 SSAC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Thursday.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore eligibility, have a 3.5 GPA and must have competed in 50 percent of competitions.
The junior from Cartersville has a 3.55 GPA in marketing, and was the SSAC co-player of the year as well as all-conference.
He batted. 426 with 6 runs, 83 hits, 12 homers, and 61 RBI, while leading the NAIA in fielding (1.000) and ranking 14th in average and hits, 19th in RBI. ...

Georgia College third baseman Garrett Green made the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Southeast Region second team.

Tony Locey had a good week, starting with SEC pitcher of the week honors.
He won on a Friday night for the second straight time, beating Auburn with seven innings, 10 strikeouts and a walk.
Then he was named a semifinalist for the Pitcher of the Year Award, presented by the College Baseball Foundation (CBF).
The Houston County grad is 10-1 with a 2.55 ERA in 14 starts. He's in the top 10 in wins and fewest hits per nine innings, while holding opponents to a .167 average.
Locey has been a part of three one-hitters this season including a seven-inning start in beating fifth-ranked Vanderbilt and going six innings in a win over No. 21 Missouri.
Georgia College's Amber Coy, a Houston County grad, was selected for the Google Cloud/College Sports Information Directors Academic All-District Team, the organization announced recently.
It's her second appearance on the District 3 team, which includes players from the Peach Belt, South Atlantic, and Conference Carolinas.
She has a 4.0 in nursing, and advances to the Academic All-America ballot, with the winner announced on June 5.

CGTC's Ijon Owens won't be going far to continue his basketball career, signing with Middle Georgia State. Owens transferred from Andew College, where he was the GCAA freshman of the year. He started 26 games in 2018-19 for the Titans.
Teammate Aaron Ridley III is, though, signing with Cumberlands University. ...
