John Milledge eyes another state baseball title

Being on the road is no biggie for John Milledge, which beat Westfield in Perry to advance to the GISA Class AAA state baseball finals.

And now the Trojans are on the road again, trying to win the state title at Mercer’s OrthoGeorgia Park against Dominion Christian.

The first game is Friday at 1:30 p.m., with the second game at 5 p.m. Saturday.

John Milledge knows its way around a championship series. The Trojans beat Trinity Christian-Sharpsburg in three games in 2017, winning the first game 5-0 and losing the second 2-1 before taking the title 6-5.

Brandon Bellflower was a sophomore who stroke the game-winning walk-off single in the third game, and he’s back.

Neither John Milledge nor Dominion Christian reached the semifinals last year, JMA beating Dominion Christian 12-1 and 9-4 in the first round. Dominion Christian didn’t make the playoffs in 2017 when the Trojans won it all.

The Knights have beaten Valwood, Pinewood, and Tiftarea to reach the finals, while the Trojans got past Frederica, Southland, and Westfield.
