Veterans alum Cortez Broughton gets the NFL call

Position changes throughout his career probably lowered his stock a little bit, but Cortez Broughton still had a stellar career on the defensive line at Cincinnati. He hoped an NFL team would call him on the final day of the draft, and his hopes became reality in the final round.

He was picked by the Los Angeles Chargers, employer of Perry grad Casey Hayward.

Update is in the area’s only preview story in The Latest Coverage. More to come Sunday.

Sidebar: Peach County grad Sean Freeman went undrafted, but the Georgia Southern safety got an invite from the Falcons.

Many Falcons fans not paying up

Atlanta Falcons fans have defaulted on $30 million in personal seat license fees since the team moved into Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that $236 million of $273 million sold are still active.

Braves Report

Mike Foltynewicz gave up four runs in six, Luke Jackson was solid, but A.J. Minter and Dan Winkler gave up five runs in the ninth and Atlanta lost 9-5 before an announced 38, 243 at SunTrust.
