Middle Georgia Stateâs Nagele takes SSAC honor
Maike Nagele went 10-3 at No. 1 for MGSUâs womenâs team to earn SSAC freshman of the year.
She made the all-conference team, along with teammates Andjela Rajovic, Luciana Pereyra, and Franziska Nobis.
Nobis and Rajovic earned all-academic honors, with Laura Cocoma, Jacqueline Here, Daniela Nino Duarta, and Iara Persiani.
Mercer baseball teams up with local animal rescue
Critical Care for Animal Angels and Mercer are hosting a shoe drive during the Bearsâ weekend baseball series with ETSU.
New or gently-used shoes and rubber-bottom cleats can be donated during any game â and donating people get a $4 concession stand voucher â and help CCAA, a non-profit volunteer dog rescue organization, and âmicroenterprise partnersâ through GotSneakers to help impoverished citizen in developing nations begin business, as well as keep shoes from piling up in landfills in America.
Mercer won 5-4 Friday night. The games are 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
