Bleckley County 8, Metter 7; Bleckley County 4, Metter 0
Things were set for extra innings after the Royals got the leadoff batter in the bottom of the seventh on only to hit into a 9-3 double play. But Brody Little drove his first pitch over the wall in right for the walk-off in the opener. Little had two hits and four RBI, Lane Kitchens two hits and two runs. Little also went 5.2 innings, Carson Waters getting the win with an efficient inning of work. Small-ball – plus a bases-loaded walk and passed ball – led to a three-run fifth in the nightcap of the Class AA series. The Royals, who had five hits in the second game, got solid pitching from Tripp Purser for 6.1 innings and Waters to finish it off.
Cook 16, Peach County 4; Cook 12, Peach County 1
Cook put 11 up in the first inning of the opener, in which Peach County had five errors toward eight unearned runs and walked nine batters. Derone Stewart had two hits and AJ Lee two RBI for the Trojans. Cook led 6-0 after two in the nightcap for a six-inning win, the Trojans surrendering five unearned runs and suffering 10 strikeouts at the plate. Simon Grant had two of the Trojans’ three hits in the season-ending Class AAA loss.

Gatewood 7, Brentwood 2
James Williamson had three hits and Tony Rudolph and Dylan Humphries two each for Gatewood, which pulled away with five in the sixth and survived four errors.
Houston County 15, Mt. Zion 0; Houston County 14, Mt. Zion 0
A nine-run second boosted the Bears in the opener, a four-inning no-hitter from Jaden Woods and Coleman Willis. Corbet Luna drove in four runs and Cristian Davis three, each on one hit. Jacob Profit had two hits, and EJ Lewis scored three times while Chandler Dawson added two RBI. Eight runs in the third and a five-inning two-hitter from Chandler Dawson, Dylan Tabor, and Trent Ringer made up the nightcap. Cameron Jones, Profit, and Tabor each had two hits, Luna drove in three and Chase Waters two in the Class 6A sweep.

Mary Persons 14, Richmond Acad. 0; Mary Persons 11, Richmond Acad. 0
The Bulldogs banged out 15 hits in the four-inning win, getting a combo two-hitter from Camden Claxton, Thomas Willingham, and Jaden Bankston. Alex Kite had three hits, with two-hit games from Trippe Moore, Jerry Andrews, and Willingham. Kite Moore, and Nate Howard had two RBI each, Moore scoring three times. A five-run sixth ended the second game early, Conner Watson getting the win. Snow and Andrews had three hits to lead the 20-hit barrage.
Perry 12, Burke County 2; Burke County 13, Perry 9
The Panthers blew it open in the final three innings, Burke County coughing up seven errors. Tanner Knowles, Jackson Nipper, and Lane Rucker had two hits each, Nipper driving in four runs and Knowles two. Andrew Newhouse scored three times, Knowles and Rucker twice each. Wade Gordon fanned four in a complete-game four-hitter. Perry scored nine in the third inning of the nightcap for a 9-3 lead, but Burke County scored in every inning after, helped in part by four Panther errors and six unearned runs. Knowles, Rucker, and Gordon had two hits each, Cam Mashburn belting a grand slam.
Ola 10, Veterans 0; Ola 10, Veterans 0
Ola pitching got a no-hitter in the first game, of five innings, and gave up two hits in the second. Veterans had three errors in the nightcap for three unearned runs.
Thomas County Central 6, Jones County 4; Thomas County Central 4, Jones County 2
Jones County watched a 4-2 lead turn into a two-run deficit after TCC’s four-run fifth. Chandler Wooten had two of the Greyhounds’ six hits. TCC did its scoring in the final two innings of the nightcap after Jones County led 1-0 after one. Each of Jones County’s errors came in those final innings for TCC, the lead and winning runs scoring on one seventh-inning miscue. Jones County was held to seven hits in the season-ending second game, and struck out 12 times to strand eight runners.
Upson-Lee 4, Thomson 0; Upson-Lee 6, Thomson 4
The Knights took a 3-0 lead after two in the opener, failing to take much advantage of six Thomson errors. Turner Maddox had two hits and Chance Gamble two runs for Upson-Lee, Alex Blount whiffing six with no walks in the complete-game win. Upson-Lee did all its second-game damage in the fifth and sixth innings, Jake Willis stranding Thomson runners in the sixth and Logan Spivey in the seventh to hold on and sweep the Class 4A series. Willis struck out eight in six innings. Turner Maddox, Spivey, and Austin Hendricks had two hits each for the Knights, Ben McDaniel and Hendricks driving n two runs each.
Washington County 3, Vidalia 2; Vidalia 11, Washington County 4
Game 3 is Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
West Laurens 14, Cross Creek 4; game 2 late
West Laurens scored in all six innings of the opener, in which Cross Creek had five errors. AJ Mathis and Jake Helton teamed for 11 strikeouts against five walks and five hits. Brody Slaughter went 3-for-4 with three RBI for the Raiders, while EJ Holmes scored three times, two-run games coming from Sam Riner, Mathis, Paul Kellam, and Zach Thomas.
Worth County 5, Rutland 4; Rutland 7, Worth County 6
The two runs Rutland got in the top of the seventh of the opener for a 4-3 lead weren’t enough, Worth County answering with two – the game-winner coming on an error after an error – in the bottom of the seventh. Aubrey Merritt and Peyton McKinney had two this each for the Hurricanes, Wesley Key (five Ks, two BBs) getting the hard-luck loss. Rutland took a 5-2 first-inning lead, then answered Worth County’s four-run fourth with two in the bottom half and then held on for the win, despite four errors and four unearned runs. Riley Jones and McKinney had two hits each, McKinney going the final 6.2 innings for the win, coming in after a brutal start.
