This week's signings
          Howard’s Carlie Harriger signed Thursday morning to play women’s soccer at Georgia College. …
Central’s Cam Collier signed with LaGrange football on Wednesday. The receiver caught 24 passes for 378 yards and three TDs for the Chargers last season, adding eight tackles and an interception en route to Region 4-AAA honorable mention. He also started on the Chargers' region champion basketball team, and is a track co-captain. ...
          A trio of All-Central Georgia picks from Washington County had their signing ceremony on Tuesday.
          Third-team defensive back Dadrian Lyman had signed with Morehouse, and third-team defensive lineman Jay Sanders had signed with Limestone.
          First-team running back Dyquan Bloodsaw, who rushed for 2,326 yards and 33 TDs, is headed to Benedict, an SIAC school in Columbia, S.C. Malik Hall will go to Middle Georgia State, a club team.
          Lyman and Sanders signed last month, and Preston Daniels was a first-signing-period addition for Kennesaw State.


Honor Roll
          Amanda Thompson has racked up her third straight SoCon women's basketball player of the month honor.
          The Mercer senior forward is the first player to pull off the hat trick since Mercer's Precious Bridges did it in 2014-15.
          Thompson was good for 13.1 points and 11.3 rebounds in February, hitting 49 percent from the floor and 78 percent from the line.
          She had four double-doubles, a season-high seven assists against Furman, all helping the Bears to their fourth straight regular-season title. ...
          R.J. Yeager, to the surprise of few, is the first Southern Conference baseball player of hte month this season.
          Mercer went 8-1 in February, thanks in part to Yeager batting .350 with six homers, 12 runs, and 14 RBI. He had a hit in all nine games. ...
          CGTC's Anyeuri Castillo is the GCAA's Division I men's basketball defensive player of the year as well as first-team all-conference overall and defense.
          The 6-7 sophomore forward is averaging 14.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.6 blocks, and 1.2 steals through 28 games. He was a second-team and all-freshman pick last year.
          He has signed with Appalachian State.
          DeJon Waters Jr. made the second team after scoring 14.1 points a game to go with 7 rebounds and 3.3 assists. ...
          Washington County alum Nia Johnson made the All-Gulf South Conference womens' basketball second team. The Delta State junior is in the top 10 in the GSC with a 14.7 scoring average and averaged 3.1 rebounds and 2.71 assists a game.

Last week's Honor Roll
          Middle Georgia State's Joy Sadler and Kianna Delas earned Southern States Athletic Conference all-conference honors Wednesday.
          Salder made the first team and Delas the second.   
          Salder, a junior from Birmingham, Ala.,  closed out the regular season with two player-of-the-week honors, and was 35th in NAIA with 15.2 points a game. She grabbed 9.6 rebounds a game, 20th nationally and first in the conference.
          Delas averaged 12.8 points and 1.8 steals a game, both in the top 10 in the SSAC. She finishes with 1,017 points, 347 rebounds, 242 assists, and 143 steals. ...
          To the surprise of nobody, Ross Cummings earned Southern Conference's player of the week for last week.
          He averaged 30 points in helping the Bears past Samford and Chattanooga, dropping a career high 37 on the Mocs. Cummings was 19 of 40 from the floor and 12 of 27 on 3s, plus 10 of 14 at the line.
          He entered the week fourth in the SoCon at 17.9 points a game. ...
          To the surprise of about nobody, R.J. Yeager is the Southern Conference baseball player of the week.
          He hit .444 with four homers and nine RBI in Mercer's four wins, with three homers coming in Sunday's win over Alabama A&M, including a game-tying dinger.
          The Lynn Haven, Fla., native scored seven runs with a steal during the week.
          The Bears host Florida A&M Tuesday and Wednesday. ...
          Alumni update I: Former Bleckley County girls basketball standout Jahnaria Brown is the state's top junior college women's freshman basketball player.
          The GCAA Division I freshman of the year averages 12.1 points and 7.6 rebounds in 17.2 minutes a game.
          Central Georgia Tech's Fredricka Sheats is the player of the year after averaging 17.4 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.2 steals in 27 games. She was last year's freshman of the year and all-region first-team, and made all-star or All-American teams for the NJCAA and Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
          Baldwin grad Courtney Butts of East Georgia State made the second team. ...
          Alumni update II: Former Rutland standout Ty’lik Evans continues to produce for USC Aiken, and is the latest Peach Belt Conference men’s basketball player of the week.
          He averaged 27.5 points in two wins, shooting 47 percent overall and 42 percent from 3. Evans was good for six rebounds, five assists and 5.5 steals a game, entering USC-A’s all-time top 10 in steals. …
          FVSU junior Alicia Franklin has earned All-SIAC women's basketball honors for the second straight year.
          The honorable mention pick a year ago made the second team this year after averaging 14.6 points with 2.6 3-pointers a game, plus 4.5 rebounds.

          Jaylon McMillian of the Wildcat men made the second team. The preseason pick led the league with 505 points and 87 3-pointers, finishing third at 18 points a game. ...

          Middle Georgia State’s Zach Cornell is the SSAC baseball player of the week after batting .333 with four hits, two homers and eight RBI in a series win over No. 20 Reinhardt.
          The Knights' Madison Bivins is the conferece softball honoree after hitting .556 with five hits, three runs and three RBI in a sweep of Coastal Georgia.
          And Jo Sadler's two double-doubles earned her the SSAC women's basketball player of the week.

Last week's signings
          Upson-Lee soccer standout Chase Winters has made it official.
          The Knight will become an Eagle, signing with Georgia Southern. Winters has been among the top players in Central Georgia for a few seasons, earning region offensive player of the year honors as a junior.
