Sarah Middleton of GMC is the GCAA pitcher of the week after going 2-0 with a save in 11.2 innings, with 10 strikeouts, two walks, and a .63 ERA. ...
Mercer graduate senior Kel Johnson is the Southern Conference player of the week after a quality four-game stretch.
He hit .350 with four homers and 10 RBI against Savannah State and Binghamton. Johnson has reached based in 20 straight games, and tops the conference with 10 homers and 27 RBI.

Mercer welcomes Georgia Tech to OrthoGeorgia Park
Game No. 170 in the Mercer-Georgia Tech baseball series takes place on Tuesday at OrthoGeorgia Park.
The Bears are 11-10 and the Yellow Jackets are 13-7.
Mercer’s Kel Johnson played at Tech and is a graduate transfer for the Bears after starting 139 games for the Yellow Jackets. He leads the Southern Conference in RBI and homers with 27 and 10.
Tech leads the series 112-56. The teams split last year, Mercer winning 6-2 in Atlanta in March and Tech winning 16-8 in Macon in April.
Mercer is off to a sluggish start, standing at 17-4 after 21 games a year ago. The Jackets are slightly off last year’s pace, when they were 12-8 after 20 games.
The Bears are home this weekend for the Southern Conference opening series against UNC Greensboro, which is 13-4, the second-best overall record among conference teams.
