FPD 13, Glascock County 1
Jones County 8, Ola 7; Locust Grove 8, Jones County 7
The Greyhounds moved into the 4-5A finale with the win over Ola, overcoming a 4-1 deficit with a six-run third and holding on. Howard went 5.2 innings in relief and struck out 11 with two walks. Locust Grove held the Greyhounds to one hit in the championship, putting together three one-run innings on six hits. Jones County is at home in the first round of the playoffs.
Northside 14, Warner Robins 5
Senior day went as planned for the Eagles, thanks in part to six Warner Robins errors, two more than Northside, and eight unearned runs. Casey Ruffin led Northside with three hits and three runs. Mallory Gordy and Celena Luna had two hits and two runs each, Nicole Morales two hits and two RBI. Taylor McNichols went 2 for 3 with two runs, and Madelyne Lee scored twice.
Perry 10, West Laurens 1
An eight-run third led to a shortened game, the Panthers done in five innings. AliRae Dykes was huge, with a 3-for-4 night and four RBI. Terra Odom had two hits and a run, Madison Homen two hits and an RBI, while Carsen Garner and Trinity Odom each scored twice and Carleigh Turrell had two RBI. Homen was solid in the circle with the five-inning win, one strikeout and two walks plus five hits on 67 pitches.
Rutland 7, Jackson 2
Jackson’s five errors led to only two unearned runs, but Bailey Caldwell was too much for the Red Devils with 13 strikeouts and no walked in a two-hit complete-game win as Rutland repeated as the 4-AAA champ. Rutland got all it needed with two in the second and three in the third. Taylor Stewart and Amber Summerday had two hits each, while Caldwell and Kinleigh King each drove in two runs, King on a bomb.
Tattnall 5, Stratford 2
Tattnall scored three two-out runs in the top of the eighth to win the 7-A title for the third straight year, and again on the road. Madyson Atwater led off the eighth by reaching third on an error, and then scoring one-out later on Jaelyn Darley’s sacrifice fly. A walk to Kaitlyn Hallman followed with Courtney Ball then bringing in a run with a single to center. Lindsey Paul’s single to center brought in the third run. The Eagles gave up a double but stranded two runners with the third out. Kenna Epps then retired the side in the bottom half in 11 pitches to get the win, with a five-hitter, no strikeouts and three walks. The Trojans worked Kenna McElmurray for nine hits and seven walks against six strikeouts. Four Tattnall runs were unearned, both teams with two errors.
