Last week: 19-5

Season: 119-32, 78.86

Within 7 points of margin: 6; 27 for the season

Upset specials: 0-4

A note: The Sports Report policy is to max out picks at 39 points although some games could earn a predicted margin of victory in the 40s and 50s.

Games of the week

Bleckley County (4-1/1-0) at Dublin (4-0/1-0)

The Royals were 4-1 two years ago, against a different schedule – four Class A teams and Northeast – and this is a stronger 4-1. Dublin won that meeting 19-6. This is a stronger Dublin team. Much stronger. The Royals have some weapons and maybe more speed than anybody in the region. But Dublin has everything.

The Sports Report pick: Dublin by 30

Dodge County (2-3/1-0) vs. Northeast (2-3/0-1)

Turnovers doomed Northeast last week, but reviews are that the Raiders are a good-looking team. Dodge County returned to the norm last week with a romp over Northeast. Can Northeast play with confidence against a team that’s won three straight by an average of 38-13? Can a Bibb County team get a home-field advantage that it really needs in a playoff-type situation against a team that’s made the postseason seven straight years?

TSR pick: Dodge County by 13

Howard (4-1/0-0) at West Laurens (4-1/0-0)

The headline game of the week has the top two teams in Region 2-4A in a quality venue where the home side should be pretty full for what is likely to be an action-packed defensive game. West Laurens has been a steady top-notch defensive team for awhile, and Howard has improved this year despite some big losses. The Huskies get six more points a game, the Raiders give up 10 fewer points a game. If you have an attention span and are over 30 – at least in football-watching years - this is a great game. Is Howard ready to win this kind of game? On the road?

TSR pick: West Laurens by 5

Warner Robins (4-1) at Houston County (4-1)

On paper, conventional wisdom is to pick the Demons by a couple touchdowns. They beat the stuffing out of Warner Robins, they’re balanced, and through five games this season – same five opponents – they’re outscoring opponents by 19 points compared to 6.6 points last year. And the Bears had a week off after scoring two points to an unranked Class 5A team. Still, Houston County has everything in place to make this a game. Remember, nobody thought the Bears would hang with Peach County.

TSR pick: Houston County by 4 (upset special)
