Braves roll late, thump Mets

Atlanta turned a 3-0 deficit after six to a 7-3 win over the Mets with a strong finish.

The Braves scored four in the seventh and three in the eighth to cap a quality night from Touki Toussaint, who went five with six strikeouts, five walks and three hits. Four relievers finished things off, Dan Winkler getting the win.

Atlanta’s bats came alive when Noah Syndergaard left, with Ronald Acuna getting the go-ahead two-run seventh-inning single and Ozzie Albies adding an icing two-run homer in the eighth.

Vizcaino now the closer?

Opposition, pairings to determine roster

How big is home field anyway?

Speed should be a bonus

Snitker on Vizcaino: "Toward the end of the week we’ll assess again whether we want to try to get him a back-to-back before we finish the year.... I’m not gonna push him hard, but like I say, if we’ve got a lead in the ninth inning tonight he’s gonna be be pitching.”/DOB

Braves and Dodgers enter tonight tied with 88 wins. Rockies two behind, Cubs three up./GB

You can also expect to see Sobotka placed in some high-leverage situations over the remainder of the week. If he continues to impress, it will be hard to keep him off the postseason roster./MB

Snitker on division-series roster: “A lot of it’s going to be determined by who we play. There’s some different scenarios for different teams, really. In the preliminary talks we’ve had, it’s gonna come down to matchups and who we play, things like that."/DOB

While the Braves would like to see Vizcaino pitch on consecutive days before the end of the week, they no longer view it as necessary. Given Minter's recent struggles, as long as Vizcaino remains healthy, he'll likely be used as the primary closer the rest of the way./MB
