Dodge County 36, Southwest 20

The Patriots gave the top-6 Indians a tussle in the 4-AA opener, entering the fourth quarter down only 15-12. But the Indians got rolling after that to stay undefeated. Southwest QB Malique Frazier was 21 of 33 for 323 yards and two scores, Jaquez Pennimon with eight catches for 142 yards.

Greene County 27, GMC 7

Hawkinsville 35, Crawford County 16

Lamar County 35, Jordan 6

Macon County 39, Taylor County 6

Mount de Sales 21, Stratford 20, OT

The Eagles trailed for three quarters before tying it and sending it into overtime. But Stratford’s attempt to tie it again failed on the PAT, starting with a slow and slightly bobbled snap. Cavs quarterback Dexter Williams flew by from the left defensive side and somehow missed the kick, which was low and went into the middle of the pile and was blocked, allowing Mount de Sales (5-0)to stay undefeated and break a seven-game losing streak to the Eagles (1-4).

The Cavs got a TD pass from Williams to Walker Schofield in the first quarter, and then a 50-yard scoring run by Micah Hattaway late in the third quarter, Ethan Aler perfect on both PATs. The Eagles’ Christian Palmer connected with Jamie O’Quinn for a 6-yard score at the 9:42 mark, and then Palmer kept from the 4 with 1:04 left in the game, James Michael Reeves getting both kicks. Williams scored from 6 yards in overtime, and Aler the kick. Palmer rolled right and squeezed it in to Raelen Jones for a 15-yard touchdown. Then came the PAT.

Williams ran for a game-high 88 yards in the defensive battle, while Palmer was 19 of 26 for 165 yards, O’Quinn catching eight for 82 yards. The Cavs had a 287-264 total yards advantage.

Northeast 27, Bleckley County 21

Northeast made homecoming a good one, leading 12-0 and 20-7 late in the third quarter. The Royals ran the kickoff back but missed the PAT to pull within 20-13. The Royals scored and made the conversion for a 21-20 lead with 1:07 left in the game, but Nolan Ussery connected with Brandon Watkins with 16 seconds left to get the Region 3-AA opener. Northeast ran for 397 yards, led by Ussery’s 186 yards and two scores on 22 carries, Terrious Miles adding 148 on 21.

Peach County 49, Kendrick 0

Rabun County 42, Monticello 16

Schley County 23, Dooly County 6

Tattnall 55, Twiggs County 6

The Cobras finally broke into the scoring column, and the Trojans scored their most points since, well, the season-opening 59-15 win over Our Lady of Mercy.

Union County 55, Putnam County 0

Veterans 31, Perry 24

Fourth-quarter malfunctions added to the drama of the evenly matched teams that used to share Herb St. John Stadium. Perry led 24-20 before a school-record 49-yard field goal by sophomore Daniel Gibbs. The Panthers (4-1) then missed a 32-yard field goal near the midway point of the fourth quarter. Veterans (6-0) was aided by a pair of Perry facemasks before Jacob Pierce went outside for a 6-yard touchdown run with 1:30 left, and then adding the two-point conversion. Perry marched to just inside the Veterans’ 40, but the final pass was incomplete.

Warner Robins 39, Northside 34

The lead changed five times, and almost did it again at the end. Northside had untimed downs after Warner Robins penalties on the final play, but the last pass from the Demons’ 28 was incomplete and Warner Robins had its first two-game winning streak over Northside since the mid-1990s.

Northside led 7-0, then Warner Robins 13-10, then Northside 17-13, then Warner Robins 19-17, and then by nine at halftime on a 21-yard TD pass from Dylan Fromm to Ty Carr on the final play. Tubby McCall’s pick-6 two minutes into the third quarter made it a two-point game. Fromm and Carr connected again, but the Demons missed their third PAT, and Northside made it a 32-31 game on Jadin Daniels’ 14-yard run and Cory Munson’s kick with 4:05 left in the third.

The Eagles took a 34-32 lead on Munson’s 41-yard field just less than two minutes later, Warner Robins finally answered at the 8:20 mark of the fourth quarter on Fromm’s 12-yard TD pass to Marcayll Jones. The PAT was good for a 39-34 lead. Warner Robins held on a fourth-and-2 at its 3, and Northside countered and got the ball back.

The Eagles had a fourth and 13 at their own 32 with less than 40 seconds left, but Warner Robins was flagged for pass interference. Daniels was sacked, and then spiked it with 9.9 seconds, and Warner Robins was whistled for illegal substitution. An incompletion followed, leaving seven-tenths of a second. A deep pass appeared to be caught for a touchdown, but it was incomplete.

Nevertheless, the Demons roughed Daniels, giving Northside – which thought it had the game-winning TD and ran onto the field – another chance. Warner Robins picked off the next pass, but was called for defensive holding. Finally, the next pass was incomplete and there were no flags.

The Demons had 551 yards on 68 plays, the Eagles 330 on 60. Fromm was 34 of 47 for 494 yards, six touchdowns and a pick, 10 passes for 245 yards going to Jones. Daniels ran for 138 yards on 16 carries. Warner Robins had five more first downs and three more turnovers in highest-scoring game in the series with 73 points, topping the 58-14 Northside win in 2015. And it was the Demons’ highest point total since a 41-6 win in 1990.

West Laurens 22, Statesboro 6

The Raiders led 10-6 at halftime, added a third-quarter field goal and the clinching touchdown – a 3-yard run by Dorian Edmond – with 1:24 left in the game.

Westside 46, Rutland 7

GISA/GICAA

Brentwood 49, St. Andrew’s 14

Gatewood 42, Westwood 6

SW Georgia 44, Piedmont 7

John Milledge 14, Westfield 10

Westfield gave a rolling John Milledge group plenty of trouble, taking a 10-7 lead on Michael Fitzpatrick’s 29-yard field goal with 9:46 left in the game. The Trojans finally answered, with Jardo Prestwood’s 9-yard TD catch from Brandon Bellflower with 1:55 left in the game. Bellflower hits Taylor Dixon from 14 yards for a first-quarter score, countered inside four minutes of the second quarter by Fitzpatrick’s 2-yard run. Westfield ran for 253 yards o n43 carries, while the Trojans were 12 for 20 for 156 yards passing. The Hornets outgained the visitors 280-196 in total offense.
