Friday's Braves Report: Acuna Acunas in another big win; playoff tickets, and more

Acuna juuust misses the cycle in big win

Ronald Acuna had his first four-hit game, and did damage against Max Scherzer, as Atlanta rolled to a 10-5 win over visiting Washington.

It was a close back-and-forth game early, tied at 2 after two and Atlanta up 6-4 after four. They traded runs, and Atlanta put it away with three in the eighth.

Acuna was 4 for 5 with two RBI and scored the tie-breaker in the fourth as Atlanta maintained a 7.5-game lead over dwindling Philadelphia. He had three hits against the three-time Cy Young winner, including a triple.

The other rookie-of-the-year candidate, Washington’s Juan Soto, had a nice night with  a homer and quality defensive play.

Kevin Gausman improved to 10-10 – 5-2 with Atlanta – after 5.2 innings, allowing seven hits, four runs and two walks.
