Wednesday's Braves Report: The magic continues; Acuna an MVP candidate? And more Acuna
Sanchez battles enough for Braves to win late
Anibal Sanchez wasn’t his sharpest, but he was pretty good, and the Braves went home happy after Tyler Flowers’ pinch-hit single brought in the go-ahead run in the ninth en route to a 2-1 win.
San Francisco lost its 11th straight, the longest organization streak since 1951.
Atlanta, meanwhile, cinched its first winning record since 2013 while extending its division lead.
Sanchez didn’t get the win, again, for the seventh straight start. But Atlanta got the win on Flowers’ infield hit to score Charlie Culberson with two outs in the ninth.
Jesse Biddle, Dan Winkler, and Jonny Venters threw three shutout, one-hit innings to finish it.
Freddie Freeman and Ender Inciarte had two hits each for Atlanta.
