John Milledge 35, Pinewood 6

          The Trojans put it away with three touchdowns in the second quarter. Amaad Foston ran for 132 yards and touchdowns of 3 and 12 yards, while quarterback Brandon Bellflower was 6 for 14 for 105 yards and three touchdowns, to Kelvin Jackson, Landon Burney, and Jared Prestwood. The Trojans held Pinewood to 124 yards offense and picked off three passes as John Milledge improved to 4-0 in GISA Class AAA. The Trojans open Region 2 play next week at Westfield.

Softball

ACE 15, Westside 3

ACE needed only seven hits, thanks to seven errors and nine walks. Charlotte Llevat had three RBI for the Gryphons, who improved to 10-8. Westside was no hit by Mary Elizabbeth Ballard and Taylor Ann Martin, but got three runs on, two hit batters, two walks, catcher’s interference, and a groundout.

Bleckley County 9, Washington County 1

          The Royals, who scored five in the first, got three hits, runs, and RBI from Abbey Sims, two hits from Elisia Vickers and Landa Dominy (three RBI), and Miranda Pearson. Macey Haley fanned seven in five innings.

GMC 17, Greene County 0

          The Bulldogs put a whopping 15 on the board in the first inning, getting their total on eight hits and 13 walks. Jordan Spear went 2-for-2 with four RBI from the bottom of the lineup. Brooke Sheffield had two hits and two RBI, and Bella Herring three RBI.

Mount de Sales 3, FPD 0

              Jordyn Partain whiffed 12 with three walks in the complete-game one-hitter for the Cavs, who scored two in the second and one in the third, the Vikings suffering from three errors.

Jones County 6, Union Grove 5

          The Greyhounds held off Union Grove’s rally with two in the seventh. Mayson Watford had two hits – and got the complete-game win - and Destin Howard and Stephanie Youngblood two RBI for Jones County.

Lamar County 8, Temple 0

          Brinkley Yevak threw the six-inning one-hitter, with five Ks and 4 BBs.

Perry 8, Upson-Lee 7

          The Panthers won on a walk-off on an error, and then single from AliRae Dykes to score Carsen Garner with the winner. Dykes went 4-for-5 with three RBI, Reagan Hughes adding two hits and Abby Ussery two RBI. Jessica Fernandez and Julia Walden had two hits each for Upson-Lee.

Piedmont 13, Flint River 0

Spalding 3, Howard 2, 10 innings

          Spalding got the walk-off on a bunt single, hit batter, and single to left.

Stratford 4, Tattnall 0

          Kenna McElmurray threw a complete-game two-hit shutout in a power showdown between the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the latest GHSA Class A power rankings. The No. 2 Trojans suffered their first shutout of the season, the No. 3 Eagles getting their runs in the fourth. They got singles from Autumn Land and Mary Elaine Mitchell, a walk to Taylor Justice and RBI single from McElmurray. Another run came in on Hailey Mosley’s fielder’s choice, and two on Devon Fitzgibbons’ triple to right. Land and Justice had two hits each for Stratford.  

Westfield 6, Tiftarea 0

          The Hornets, who got five in the second, were led by Emma Williams’ 17 strikeouts in seven inning, with no walks and one hit, adding a 3-for-3 night. Sadie Hayes had two hits.

 

Volleyball                   

FPD def. Tattnall 25-10, 25-16

          The Vikings improved to 19-2 with the area-opening win.

W-Bob Jones 3, Wesleyan 1
