FLORIDA A&M 41, FVSU 7

A weather delay didn’t slow down FAMU, which did  have to settle for five field goals to go with three Rattler touchdowns.

The Wildcats set up one Rattler score with a bad punt snap.

FVSU scored in the second quarter, and was sparked by quarterback Jarman Slade, 17 of 27 for 303 yards and a touchdown.

Cam Young (Dodge County) led FVSU with seven tackles.

Georgia Southern 37, South Carolina State 6

A scoop-and-score by Ty Phillips in the first quarter got the Eagles going as quarterback Shai Werts ran for 163 yards and three touchdowns in his 12th start.

The Eagles ran for 319 yards, the first team to crack 300 yards rushing against S.C. State since 2010, again by Georgia Southern, in the FCS playoffs.

The Bulldogs broke the shutout early in the third quarter.

MEMPHIS 66, MERCER 14

Memphis quarterback Brady White completed 22 of 28 passes for 358 yards and five touchdowns, school records for a yards and scores in a Tiger QB debut.

He completed his first nine passes and had the 10th one dropped as Memphis stormed out to a 56-0 halftime lead.

"It was mistake after mistake against a really explosive offense,” Mercer head coach Bobby Lamb said. “We couldn't move the chains and defensively they just made plays on us.”

The Bears got a 10-tackle night from LeMarkus Bailey, and Marquise Irvin had five catches for 76 yards and a score. The Bears scored 14 in the fourth quarter.

ARIZONA WESTERN 10, GMC 7

GMC managed 275 yards on offense, but that led to ony one touchdown as Arizona Western won the defensive battle.

Arizona Western backs John Oliver and Jadon Hayes teamed for 169 yards, and former Veterans quarterback Logan Byrd was 12 of 26 for 145 yards.

The Matadors got a field goal with 6:20 left in the first, and the Bulldogs blew a chance to tie when a field goal try was blocked late in the first half after they had blocked a punt.

A 46-yard TD run made it a 10-0 game, and GMC scored on a 62-yard pass from Trey Patterson to Kanore McKinnon in the final seconds of the third quarter.
