Holiday basketball tournaments take over area schedule

That’s what mid-December means, and there is basketball galore before and after Christmas.
Jones County, FPD, and Houston County are hosting tournaments/round-robins this week.
The action in Gray includes five girls and six boys teams from Central, and has a crossover matchup with GISA’s John Milledge against GHSA Class 5A Ware County in boys play. Central’s boys are ranked in 3A, and the host Greyhounds are in one state poll in 5A.
GMC is ranked in boys and girls polls, as are Stratford’s girls (semifinalist last year), and they’re competing in FPD’s round-robin, which includes five girls and four boys teams from Central Georgia.
The packed Bear Brawl has six girls and seven boys teams from Central Georgia, including defending 5A boys champion Warner Robins, 3A girls quarterfinalist Peach County, and Class A public girls quarterfinalist Wheeler County.
